Completely setup your Zimbra administration settings, such as Zimbra account alias and Zimbra distribution list.

Zimbra Administrative Access

To perform any administrative functions on your Zimbra hosted account:

  1. Login to the control panel
  2. On left navigation bar under Hosted Services, click Hosted Email .
  3. Follow the Administrative link to reach your Zimbra Admin Console.
  4. Log in to the Zimbra Admin Console with your admin details.
    • By default, you will land on the account management page.
  5. Adding new users, aliases, distribution lists, or configuring your Zimbra settings can be accomplished on the far left menu by selecting the Manage tab.

Create a Zimbra Account

  1. Login to the control panel
  2. On left navigation bar under Hosted Services, click Hosted Email .
  3. Follow the Administrative link to reach your Zimbra Admin Console.
  4. Log in to the Zimbra Admin Console with your admin details.
    • By default, you will land on the account management page.
  5. On the far left menu select the Manage tab.
  6. In the upper right corner, Click the small gear icon and click New.

Fill in all of the required data, click next, repeat, until your user has been configured the way you'd like. Typically, all defaults can be used and the only required information is the account name, last name, and password.

Account Options

General Information
General account information such as the account type, name, the users name, etc.
Contact Information
The users various forms of contact and information. This information will appear in the Global Address List unless the user is selected to not appear.
Aliases
Allows you to configure an alias for the account. This can also be later done by Create an Zimbra Alias.
Forwarding
Allows you to configure forwarding for the user account. Hidden forwarding accounts can also be set up.
Features
Various Zimbra features can be enabled/disabled.
Preferences
Various account options such as mail options, polling intervals, signatures, etc. Many of these can be adjusted by the user later.
Zimlets
Enable/disable various Zimlet functionalities.
Advanced
Advanced polling interval options, password options, lockout and time out policies, etc.

Create a Zimbra Alias

Aliases allow you to redirect email from one user account to another. For example, you could direct all email going to sales@ to a specific representative of your company, or email going to a former employee to another.

  1. Login to the control panel
  2. On left navigation bar under Hosted Services, click Hosted Email .
  3. Follow the Administrative link to reach your Zimbra Admin Console.
  4. Log in to the Zimbra Admin Console with your admin details.
    • By default, you will land on the account management page.
  5. On the far left menu select the Manage tab.
  6. On the far left menu under Manage, click Aliases.
  7. In the upper right corner, Click the small gear icon and click New.
  8. The new Alias dialog box will open.

There are only three text fields you need to input:

Alias
The account or name you'd like to alias. E.g. former-employee @ example.com
Target Account
The account you'd like to redirect email too. E.g. sending email from former-employee to target account current-employee@example.com

Create a Zimbra Distribution List

Distribution lists allow you to create mass-lists to quickly reach a segment of your company, representative of your company, or email going to a former employee to another.

  1. Login to the control panel
  2. On left navigation bar under Hosted Services, click Hosted Email .
  3. Follow the Administrative link to reach your Zimbra Admin Console.
  4. Log in to the Zimbra Admin Console with your admin details.
    • By default, you will land on the account management page.
  5. On the far left menu select the Manage tab.
  6. On the far left menu under Manage, click Distribution Lists.
  7. In the upper right corner, Click the small gear icon and click New.

Give your list a name, It follows the same format as any email. For example, sales@example.com could be used to send sales requests to every member of your sales team.

Add members to your list by searching your Global Address List and clicking Add or Add All, or alternatively, copy and paste your own list of email addressed into the text box and clicking Add.

Once your list has been configured, click the Finish button.
