Theft of Doctor's Computers with Patient Data

Two computers with patient information, including names and social security numbers, were stolen from a doctor's office in Port Angeles, WA.

According to the article the doctor has implemented new security procedures, will purge old patient data and will purchase FraudStop for affected patients.

Although the physician will apparently start encrypting hard drives, will he move to a secure cloud-based email service to prevent the same type of information from being stored in client emails on the office computer?
