Setting up Thunderbird (Linux)

Step 1 - Click Edit and then Account Settings

Step 2 - Click Add Account

Step 3 - Select Email Account

Step 4 - Identity

  • Your name
  • Your email address

Step 5 - Choose Connection Type

  • Select either:
    • IMAP
    • POP3
  • Incoming server Information

Step 6 - User Names

  • Enter your email address as the User Name

Step 7 - Account Name

  • Enter your desired account name

Step 8 - Congratulations!! You're not done yet :(

  • Click Finish

Step 9 - Server Settings

  • Server Information
  • Enter your email address as the User Name
  • Select SSL
    • POP please use port 995
    • IMAP please use port 993
  • Check "Use secure authentication"

Step 10 - Outgoing Server

  • Click Add

Step 11 - SMTP Server Settings

  • Desired description
  • Outgoing server information
  • Check "Use name and password"
  • Enter your email address as the User Name
  • Select SSL
  • Click Ok

  • Now you're really finished!! :)
