Inbound Queue Size Alerts
From Greenview Wiki
For an early warning system that your mail server may be having issues, you can set up "Inbound Queue Size Alerts". You can specify the number of messages and the address you'd like us to email if the queue exceeds your specified threshold.
Please be aware, queues are normal in SMTP transactions. One large message may be in the process of being delivered while others come in creating a temporary "queue" that in reality is just normal SMTP transmissions. I'd recommend setting your queue alerts to an hour's worth of traffic or five percent of your daily traffic, and never really less than 10 or so even for the smallest account. To find the daily traffic, you can look in the domain's "Statistics", and then look at a single day's "Good" email (don't include spam as this will generally not be in your queue). You can also drill down to hourly stats as well, to get the hourly traffic.
Also, we've had questions about sending SMS messages rather than emails. Since most cell providers give an email address to each phone, you can use that as the email address (or one of the email addresses) we send alerts to. Below is a list of the common formats, but you may want to contact your provider to ensure that their most recent naming conventions are followed.
* Alltel: phonenumber@message.alltel.com * AT&T: phonenumber@txt.att.net * T-Mobile: phonenumber@tmomail.net * Virgin Mobile: phonenumber@vmobl.com * Sprint: phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com * Verizon: phonenumber@vtext.com * Nextel: phonenumber@messaging.nextel.com * US Cellular: phonenumber@mms.uscc.net
