Stops 99.5% of All Spam

With the initial default settings, SpamStopsHere will "out of the box" block 99% of all spam for most customers. We believe it is actually very close now to 99.5%. (I.e. we block 199 out of 200 spams.) With our default recommended settings, the false-positive rate will be less than 1 in 100,000 (i.e. 99.999% of legitimate email will pass).

Depending upon the security of your mail server, the perceived spam blocking may be less, because some spam may be able to bypass our service. Ideally, if you have an in-house mail server and set a firewall to only accept email from our service, no spam can bypass our service, and over 99% of spam will be blocked.

If your e-mail is hosted at an ISP or outside hosting company, the perceived spam blocking may be only 95%. Most of the remaining spam will actually be bypassing our service due to tricks that spammers use. If your ISP (Hosting company) supports "optimal MX records", you can reduce the spam which bypasses our service and thereby typically block 98-99% of all spam. (In-house mail servers should also use the optimal MX records.)

Reducing spam increases productivity and morale. By industry estimates, each employee spends over an hour a month just deleting spam; many are also deeply offended by its content. As more employees receive email on remote laptops, PDAs and pagers, it becomes even more important to stop spam.

Anti-virus Scanning

Anti-virus scanning is an additional 25% cost option. SpamStopsHere can optionally scan email attachments for viruses and remove infected ones. A scan summary is added to the bottom of the email message when an attachment is removed.

Ideal for any Business

SpamStopsHere's exceptional accuracy, especially in not blocking legitimate e-mails, makes it ideal for any business. It will not block legitimate newsletters from banks that contain mortgage offers, or any of the other types of newsletters that are often blocked by other anti-spam systems.

SpamStopsHere is even suitable for medical and legal organizations that must allow e-mails with any content. Since SpamStopsHere does not block spam by using "trigger" words or simple phrases, it will not block legitimate e-mails even if they contain medical words such as "viagra", sexual or criminal phrases, etc.

Indeed, many of SpamStopsHere's first customers were law firms and medical groups. All are still using the service and none have ever reported problems with blocked e-mails.

Increase Your Email Reliability

You may understandably be concerned about missing an e-mail from an important prospect due to problems on our end. SpamStopsHere actually reduces the chance that you miss any email by adding multiply redundant geographically diverse clusters of servers to your e-mail path. It's like adding backup e-mail servers to your e-mail system, all over the world, to ensure delivery.

This service uses multiple relays which will spool (i.e. "store") your e-mail messages in the event your mail server is off-line due to power failure, system crash, routine maintenance, a fiber cut, or any other reason. When your mail server is back online, it will automatically receive the spooled e-mail. Our service will spool your mail for as long as you need. You can even read the messages in the spool if you need emergency access to the messages. During the blackout of 2003, not one of our customers in the blackout area lost a single email.

This valuable service is sold separately by other companies by the name "E-mail backup" or "Store and Forward"; it is included here at no additional charge. This service benefits your IT department since they can now take your mail server off-line for routine maintenance, updates, etc. (It is very likely that your IT department or hosting provider takes your mail server off-line regularly without informing you.)

You may also be concerned that we will block a legitimate e-mail message mistakenly. Although this is rare, we find that encountering a false positive with our system will actually maintain your e-mail continuity. The damage from a missed e-mail is typically caused by the delay in communication. When SpamStopsHere identifies a message as spam, by default, we reject the message. This encourages the sender's e-mail server to immediately notify the sender that the message was not received. The sender can then follow up by telephone. You can even customize the rejection message to include your telephone number. We find that this mitigates the damage of a false positive.

Additionally, our filters are more accurate than a human. If your employees had to manually delete every spam message from their inboxes, they would typically mistakenly delete more legitimate e-mail messages than our system due to simple human error. Having one legitimate e-mail message in a pile of spam is more likely to cause a communication delay, due to missed messages, than using SpamStopsHere. Only using a truly accurate anti-spam product that you can trust will save you time and ensure business e-mail continuity.
